OAs vs Kingston
(Home - 27th September 2008)

Old Alleynian FC 12 (0) [T: Aitken-Read (2); C: Docherty]

Kingston RFC 29 (24) [4T; 3C; 1P]

Old Alleynians suffered their second league defeat of the season at the weekend succumbing to a powerful and well drilled Kingston side. Old Alleynians never got out of second gear for much of the match and struggled to achieve any foothold on the game.

The first half was scattered with individual errors which led to a couple of tries for the visitors while the Old Alleynian attack struggled to make inroads when in possession. A fortunate bounce from a chip over led to a further try with a missed tackle accounting for the fourth. Four tries down at the interval inevitably forced Old Alleynians to chase the game after the break.

The afternoon continued to get worse when an interception on the left touchline led to a Kingston forward extending the lead to 29-0. Despite the game being all but lost Old Alleynians rallied in the final twenty minutes, picking up two well taken tries by Aitken-Read, extending his try count to four from the opening three league matches.

Old Alleynians face a number of difficult matches in October and will be looking for a much improved performance this Saturday when they travel to one of the stronger sides in the league, Old Wellingtonians.

Team: Woodford, Wisson, Van der Westhuizen, Juuko, Thomas, Mahoney, Aitken-Read, Wright, Kent, Docherty, Mead, Spowart, Sandars, Tullo, Rutteman. Subs: Hill, Richardson, Topham.
