Referees

Alleynian Youth Referees Section

This is a new initiative for the Club and we are seeking to have 50 qualified referees by 2010. We believe that by having qualified referees we can enhance players enjoyment of the game, improve their standard of play and help reduce injuries.

Mark Plummer (a Senior London Society Referee) has been asked to establish this section to provide referees for matches and festivals in the mini, midi and junior sections, and to give aspiring referees help and support if they wish to progress to the London Society and higher levels.

Become a Referee

The Club aims to support all Club members who are interested in becoming a referee. The first step is to take the Entry Level Referee Award (ELRA); a three stage award which aims to provide the key tools to be able to referee competently.

If you choose to join a Referees Society, you will be required to complete all 3 Stages of the ELRA.  If, however, you wish to referee only within the Club, then you need only complete Stages 1 and 2, which consider the following aspects of refereeing:

  • Management and Control
  • Problem Solving
  • Refereeing the key phases of the Game
  • Positioning and Communication
  • Laws of the Game

Crucial to your learning is that a significant part of both Stages is practically based i.e. you will have an opportunity to observe refereeing in practice, whilst demonstrating your own skills on the field of play.

If you want any further information, please contact Mark Plummer.
