Youth Parents Quiz Night

Friday 17th November 2006 at 7-15pm (Bar open from 7pm)

We know you are great at supporting from the touchline and discussing the intricacies of the off-side rule. but are you a Mastermind or are you the Weakest Link?

Find out at OARFC’s Quiz Night. Either make up a team of 6 or come on your own and we will find you a team.

If you would like to come please complete a form at the desk in the Club Room. The £10 cost is inclusive of a fish and chip supper (or vegetarian option) from Dulwich’s premier fish and chip shop, Olleys.

The last two Quiz Nights were very popular and numbers are limited, so early booking is recommended.

First Aid

We are still seeking to improve the level of First Aid skill around the club.

An RFU First Aid course has been arranged for Sunday 8 October 10am-4pm at the Old Alleynian Clubhouse. If you are interested in attending please e-mail Cathy Buckley to let her know as soon as possible.

The Course has been arranged in conjunction with Peckham Panthers and Southwark Tigers. The Club will fund up to two representatives from each age group. The number of places is limited so please respond ASAP. Ideally we would like to have at least one individual from each age group attend this Course. If you would like to attend but cannot make the course date, please also let Cathy know so that she can gauge the interest for arranging another course, later in the Season.

(Note: for the Minis the 8th October has all age groups attending two Festivals that day, so it will be difficult for the Coaches to attend; however for any Parent / Squad Manager who is able to co-ordinate transport to / from the Festivals this could be a good opportunity.

 CRB Checks

A reminder - all Coaches / assistants / first aiders must have their CRB check completed as soon as possible. See Tricia.

Coaches

We are always seeking new coaches - generally these are Mums and Dads who would normally be hanging around the touchline on a Sunday anyway! So, dust off your boots and help out on Sundays - you will get the bug and want to do the RFU course. It is not too onerous - the emphasis is on fun and safety. Tricia is happy to take names for coaching courses - if we get enough at a particular time, it is possible to schedule a course at the club. Please contact her to put your name down. She will confirm dates/times/locations depending on levels of interest. The club can't keep going without massive coaching support!

'Touchline Reflections'

A couple of parents have come over all philosophical and have written some pieces relating to mini rugby at the club. We've called them 'Touchline Reflections' and make a nice little read. Enjoy!

Reflection 1 - "I have three kids"

Reflection 2 - "Live Rugby"

Reflection 3 - "Hooligans"

Reflection 4 - "Comportment"

Any feedback on these, and, if anyone wants to add to the collection, please feel free to comment and send contributions in to Chris.
