Joining the club

Who can join?

All boys and girls currently aged 6 or over and under 18 on the 1st September of the current season are very welcome. We have members from all types of schools and all types of backgrounds.

When can I join?

Any time during the season, providing you have had your 6th birthday

How do I join?

Simply turn up at a training session at our ground at Dulwich! Please see our Diary for the dates when we are at home. You can also see a Click for map or click here to send us your details.

What equipment will I need?

Each child will initially need football or rugby boots and suitable shirt and shorts. A tracksuit or equivalent is also essential during colder weather.

Under RFU rules, boots should either be proper rugby boots with RFU approved studs fitted (generally simple hollow aluminium studs), or basic football boots with solid moulded rubber studs. Studs which are of a composite rubber/metal nature are discouraged as they can become sharp and thus dangerous. Similarly, the club STRONGLY discourages the use of football "blade"-type boots as these have been shown to cause serioius injuries.

All children are STRONGLY advised to obtain and use a mouthguard - either from the Club or a sports shop (which are shaped by softening in hot water), from a specialist supplier (the Club can advise) or from a dentist. As children get older, mouthguards become mandatory for competitive games.

Shirts and socks in club colours are available for purchase from the club most training Sundays.

What will it cost?

Membership is currently £60 a season for the 1st child and £30 for each subsequent child in a family. There is a one off joining fee of £10 per child. Please note - there is no weekly charge!

Subscriptions should be paid annually by cash or cheque. Cheques should be made payable to OARFC (Youth Section).

Also, we like to encourage non-playing adult members to pay an optional £25.00 Associate Membership subscription towards the upkeep of the facilities.

Can I speak to someone to find out more?

Yes. You can ring the Chairman, Secretary or the coach for the relevant age group. See either Officers or Coaches sections.

Everyone is welcome!
