First Aid at Old Alleynians

The Club policy for the provision of First Aid is that for all home games and training there will be a nominated first aider. To achieve this it is necessary to have as many qualified first aiders amongst the Club’s membership. The Club regularly runs First Aid Course to encourage awareness of what do in the event of an injury at the Club. The following provides an outline of what Parents, Spectators and Coaches can do to assist in the event of an injury.

1) In the first instance, if a player is injured, and the Club’s First Aider is at the pitch-side, please ensure that they are given immediate access to check him/her out.

2) Please discourage other spectators (unless Parents or by request from the nominated First Aider) to enter the field of play.

3) Please encourage players and spectators to keep the touchline clear and not to stray onto the pitch during play. This is important not only for First Aid but also for other match officials as well.

4) Please encourage as many parents as possible to attend the RFU First Aid training Courses. The Club aims to run a course each season and whenever there is sufficient interest we will run additional courses.

5) Please ensure that all Players complete and keep up to-date their Medical Form which MUST be handed to Maureen McNamura before you can start playing for the Club; this Form asks for emergency contact details and medical information to ensure that in the event of an injury you receive the right diagnosis and treatment. The Form is kept in the strictest confidence and is a separate form to your player registration for this reason.

If you would like any information on First Aid at the Club or would like to attend a First Aid Course, please contact Maureen McNamara direct. Tel: 07941764683; e-mail maureen.mcnamara@ntlworld.com
