Welcome to the new 2007-8 Season − 10:00-12:00, every Sunday − All Welcome. See "Diary".

Welcome to Alleynian Youth Rugby
2007-8

Alleynian Rugby is an excellent club to try out and improve your youth rugby skills. With our roots in Dulwich College, we boast some of the nicest playing facilities for miles around. The Club is very friendly and supportive − you can be assured of a really warm welcome!

From humble beginnings in 2000, the Club is going from strength to strength. With membership (2006-7) at over 600 − this has meant a regular turnout of over 400 boys and girls every week. We play every Sunday (10:00-12:00) between the beginning of September and the end of the season in April. Some weeks are for skills training, some are "Structured Training" days, usually with other clubs, and some are fixture days - ranging from simple home or away games against other local clubs, to medium to large-scale festivals. Over the past couple of years, we have taken a number of sides away to major tour festivals. You can see our Diary for full details. All of our training and development is carried out in accordance with the RFU Continuum.

Youth rugby has been extremely successful at Alleynians – both in terms of competitive success and by providing an environment in which everyone – regardless of sporting skills – can enjoy the game at a level that suits.

Alleynian Rugby runs all 12 Youth age groups from Under 7 to Under 18. (That is basically Year 1 to Year 12 in the school calendar.)  As soon as you have had your 6th birthday you are able to play. Youth rugby includes:

  • mini rugby - 6s, Under 7s and Under 8s playing exciting Tag rugby on a relatively small pitch, plus Under 9s moving on to the contact game;
  • midi rugby  - Under 10s to Under 12s, broadening and honing their basic skills across the board;
  • junior rugby - Under 13 to Under 18; playing 15-a-side on a full pitch - in preparation for moving fully into the adult game.

Girls are most welcome at Old Alleynians. They can play mixed rugby in the mini/midi sections (Under 7 to Under 12), and we have established a new Girls Section open to all girls in school years 7 to 11. Training is from 10:00 - 12:00 on Sundays, and for 2007-8, the older girls are taking part in a new Kent Girls' League.

On home days, the club is open from 10am - there is usually coffee and hot food, and the bar opens around 11:30 for thirsty Dads (and Mums!)

We have more than 50 RFU qualified coaches and we are increasing this number every season. All youth coaches undergo the RFU Level 1 course - and everyone is subject to the Police Basic Check. We operate within a club-wide child protection scheme - managed by every Head Coach and coordinated by a specialist Child Protection Officer. We also have fully qualified First Aiders at training and match sessions, in line with RFU recommendations.

Please read our Parent/Spectator and Players codes. We take these guidelines very seriously and hope that you will support us in encouraging good behaviour from players (and their parents!) and help develop the future of rugby.
