Welcome to Alleynian Youth Rugby For the 2009-10 Season, Alleynian Youth Rugby will be celebrating its 10th Anniversary. From humble beginnings in 2000, the Youth section is going from strength to strength. With membership (2008-9) at over 700 — this has meant a regular turnout of over 450 boys and girls every week. We play every Sunday (10:00-12:00) between the beginning of September and the end of the season in April. Some weeks are for skills training, some are "Structured Training" days, usually with other clubs, and some are fixture days — ranging from simple home or away games against other local clubs, to medium to large-scale festivals. Over the past few years, we have taken a number of sides away to major tour festivals. All of our training and development is carried out in accordance with the RFU Continuum. Alleynians is an excellent club to try out and improve your youth rugby skills. With our roots in Dulwich College, we boast some of the nicest playing facilities for miles around. The Club is very friendly and supportive — you can be assured of a really warm welcome! Alleynian Youth Rugby is part of the Old Alleynian Football Club — have a look at About Alleynians to find out why! Youth rugby has been extremely successful at Alleynians both in terms of competitive success and by providing an environment in which everyone — regardless of sporting skills — can enjoy the game at a level that suits. Alleynian Rugby runs Youth age groups from Under
6 to Under 18.
(That is Year 1 to Year 12 in the school calendar.) As soon as you
have had your 6th birthday you are able to play. Youth rugby includes: Every Sunday during the season (excepting Easter
and Christmas), the Club House is open from 10am
— there is usually coffee and hot food, and the bar opens around 11:30 for thirsty Dads (and Mums!)
We have more than 60 RFU qualified coaches and we are increasing this number every season. All youth coaches undergo the RFU Level 1 course
— and
everyone is subject to the Police Basic Check. A number of our coaches are also qualified RFU Referees. We operate a club-wide child protection scheme
— managed by every Head Coach and coordinated by a specialist
Child Protection Officer. We also have fully qualified First Aiders at training and match sessions, in line with RFU recommendations.
Please read our Codes of Conduct, which
cover the expected behaviour of everyone taking part in rugby at Alleynians:
Match Officials; Coaches; Players; Parents and Spectators. We take these guidelines very seriously and hope that you will support us in encouraging good behaviour
everyone to help develop the future of rugby. |
