| | | Details for tour to Malta - May 2008
Organiser: Julian Brincat
Gents,
Following the success of last year's tour to Portugal it’s about that time of the year when the planning starts for the upcoming OA Rugby Tour in May. We went to Malta in 2005 and everyone had a great time so due to popular demand we have decided to go back again this year. There is an annual rugby tournament that we will enter which basically involves around 4 or 5 half hour games over the Saturday and Sunday. We did very well last time, getting to the finals and losing against the Penguins ("The premier touring club in the UK blah blah"), who I have been assured will not be there this year!!
Apart from that we will stay in a hotel in Malta’s main nightspot and be able to enjoy the cheap beer, and good weather (probably around 25 – 30C at that time of year). The nightlife there is excellent and made better as all the bars and clubs, which are open all night, will be just a stone’s throw away so no taxis and no excuses to fall asleep in building sites. Its all English speaking by the way so that should minimise any misunderstandings with the locals, although there may still be a pissed off goalkeeper lurking around waiting for Village after his last “misunderstanding” in Malta!
Like last time we will try and fit in a beach trip and a meal at a sea-front restaurant if possible so a great time will be had by all.

NEXT STEPS
The organisers say that they have too many teams signing up to this tournament so it is vital that we get ourselves sorted as quickly as possible in order to secure our place. In addition due to the response that we have received within the club, it is necessary to allocate places on the tour on a first come first served basis.
The tournament itself takes place on the 3 and 4th May with us playing 3-4 short games. The quote I have included below is for three nights (arrive on Friday and leave on Monday).
The quote at the moment is at £300 per player and as long as we get our deposits in as soon as possible it will not increase. Getting your deposits in ASAP would also mean that I may be able to negotiate a lower price for us. This price includes all the following:
2nd May till 5th May
• Entry into the Seniors International Clubs Tournament.
• Direct flight on the following schedule:
2nd May 2008 London Heathrow 18.30 Malta 22.30
5th May 2008 Malta 16:55 London Heathrow 19:25
• Greeting at airport and transfer to hotel.
• Assistance with check-in.
• 3 nights accommodation in twin / triple sharing hotel rooms on a bed & breakfast basis at the 4 Star Bernard Hotel in the heart of Paceville
(Malta's prime nightlife spot) which means no taxis necessary to get anywhere as you will always be within staggering distance of your hotel room.
• All tournament fees and match transfers from hotel to rugby pitch.
• Light lunch during match days on the field.
• Water during match days.
• Provision of physiotherapists and first aid on pitch side during matches.
• Presentation night at the end of the tournament including snacks.
• Departure transfers back to airport with assistance.
• All taxes.
• Assistance throughout your stay.
In order to secure your place on this tour we would need a 40% deposit (£120) and your full name AS IT APPEARS ON YOUR PASSPORT. In order to do this the money can be transferred or deposited straight away. Please pay to:
Lloyds TSB
A/C Name: Mark Moore
Sort Code: 30-91-12
A/C Number: 06577637
(Please include your name on the transaction so that we know who has paid!)
So in summary I need:
• Deposit of £120 to the above account.
• Email confirmation to jules_brincat@hotmail.com that you have paid.
• Full name AS IT APPEARS ON YOUR PASSPORT.
Guys, please try and make this as quick and as painless as possible in order to secure your place.
If there are any issues or potential issues please let me know ASAP. Apart from that it is certain that a great time will be had by all so do not miss out.
Cheers,
Jules
