OLD ALLEYNIAN CRICKET CLUB News

Details of the residual Old Alleynian Cricket Club matches to be played in the 2006 season have now been added to the 1st XI and Cricketer Cup fixture pages. Any OAs who wish to play in the match against Dulwich College on Founder's Day (Saturday 1st July 2006) are invited to contact Charles Fellows-Smith on (020) 8761 3051.

A brief memoir from Trevor Bailey (Dulwich College, Essex and England) has been added to the site.

Seven more pages of historical information and statistics about the club have been added. These are available from the 1st XI All-Time League Averages page which can be reached by clicking the "Averages" button on the 1st XI fixture page. New information includes the complete league record of the club from 1973 to 2004, leading league averages, the club playing record from 1928 to 2005, details of leading batsmen and bowlers, and information on OAs with 1,000 runs or 100 wickets in a season, Test match caps, Wisden Cricketer of the Year awards, and Gentlemen versus Players appearances. OACC had a successful start to the Cricketer Cup competition, beating Old Westminsters by 110 runs in the first round. Unfortunately, OACC could not repeat this feat against Shrewsbury Saracens in the second round, where a loss by four wickets resulted in elimination from the competition.

Details of the residual Old Alleynian Cricket Club matches to be played in the 2005 season have now been added to the 1st XI and Cricketer Cup fixture pages.

It was agreed at the Extraordinary General Meeting on Saturday 4th September 2004 that the Old Alleynian Cricket Club will withdraw from the Fuller's Surrey County League and the Surrey Championship at the end of the 2004 season, and that the Club will play very few matches at all in the 2005 season. For information on any residual fixtures, please consult the OACC section of the Play-Cricket web site.

Ex-OACC players are invited to apply for membership of the Edward Alleyn and Honor Oak Cricket Club, which will play some of its matches in the 2005 season at the OACC ground.

An Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) will be held at the Club after the final game of the season on Saturday 4th September 2004 (approximately 8.00pm) at which the proposal to merge with Alleyn Old Boys will be discussed. The outcome of this meeting will be crucial to the future of the club, and all members are therefore strongly encouraged to attend and participate.

All players are asked to read this letter from the OACC Chairman which contains important information on the position that the club finds itself in at the start of the 2004 cricket season.
