Despite fine individual performances from James Williams and Omar Faruqui a match that could have had any one of five results when the 20 overs started ended in defeat in the last over by 2 wickets. Lenny Sanderson did the damage with the ball taking 7 wickets as we ground out our 143. When Shepperton's top 5 were dismissed with only 61 on the board hopes were high. At this point no one but Williams had passed 12 in the match but a number of missed half chances and some occasional lapses in the field not to mention some good lower order batting from Holas 32, Pilkington 27 and Odendall 25 left Shepperton needing 18 off the last three overs with three wickets in hand. Despite losing a wicket in the penultimate over Shepperton squeaked home with an inside edge past a wrong footed keeper with three balls to spare. A very good game to watch lets hope it bodes well for those of us who prowl the boundary at Potash Farm for the rest of the season.
